HAUL: Drugstore Makeup!!!

Hey Everyone!!

Over the last week I've been picking up so much drugstore makeup, it's insane!  I had been hearing about the Wet 'n Wild Color Icon Palettes on youtube and various blogs, so I went looking and I think I've found all of them except the new 2011 colors.  I have yet to try them out yet, but I'm so excited about them.  Supposedly the color payoff is amazing and there are several mac dupes in the palettes.

As far as mascara is concerned, I've found my recent favorite!  I am in love with Define a Lash from Maybelline!!  I think it's because of the wand, but I luv it!!

The Revlon Cream Shadows are pretty good, but they sure do crease.  I have to apply an eye primer then the cream shadow, then a powder to shadow to set it.  It's seems like alot of work....don't know if I'll repurchase.

Take a look at these pics, and let me know if you would like me to do a review.
Hope everyone is doing good :)

Sephora Las Vegas HAUL!!!

I was in Las Vegas for a business conference and I decided to take a little stroll down the street to the Sephora that is located inside the Venetian.  As far as size is concerned, the Sephora is not as big as I thought it would be.  BUT, it does have one of the few (maybe three) Makeup Forever boutiques inside of it!  I was thrilled.

Here is what I picked up:
  • MUFE "Rock for Ever" Aqua eyes eyeliner Set
  • A Fresh "Sugar Rush" kit which included a Fresh lip balm, a brown sugar body cream, brown sugar small perfume, and a cute metallic makeup bag.
  • MUFE Sensitive Eyes Makeup Remover (for some reason didn't make it in the picture)
  • MUFE Aqua eyes eyeliner in "Navy"
  • Illamasqua powder blush in "Tweak"
  • Illamasqua eyeliner cake in "Danger Blue"
  • MUFE refill eyeshadow in #311
  • MUFE refill eyeshadow in #76
  • Urban Decay Matte Eyeshadow in "ABC Gum"
  • I also received a mini MUFE HD blush
I can't wait to try all of my new goodies!!  Does anyone have any of these?  Whatcha think?

Review: DIOR Holiday Collection Makeup Palette For The Eyes

Dior Holiday Collection Palette

Dior Holiday Palette ($44) features four shadows, which launched this holiday season.

Pros:
  • The palette is filled with gorgeous, rich colors, with a beautiful, soft buttery texture.
  •  The little "D" charm is too cute and fashionable!

Cons:
  • The packaging is slightly bulky
  • The sponge applicator…I can’t remember the last time I used a sponge applicator (yuck!)

Midnight blue- dark shimmery blue in the pan but when applied it looked more like a matte blue/black.
Gunmetal silver- steel gray looks very shimmery in the pan but when applied, the color is pewter gray with a rich sheen.
Lighter silver- looks like a medium shade in the pan, however when it’s applied it shows up as an almost metallic white.  It’s good for being used as a highlighter. Swatches very similar to the bottom shade.
White highlighter- a shimmery white with an intense pigmentation.  This makes for a perfect highlighter, especially during the holiday season.  But it is not something I would opt for, it’s too shimmery for my personal taste.

If you like silvers and blues, then I would go to your local Sephora and check this palette out!  It’s limited edition, so I would try and get it before it’s gone…
If you have this palette or if you’re interested in this palette let us know!

Review: Sugarpill Cosmetics Pressed Eyeshadows

NOTE:  Wanna see up close?  Click on the PICS :)

I know I had given ya'll a little sneak peak on my Sugarpill Cosmetics haul a couple of weeks ago.  I was so excited to try these cosmetics and when black Friday came along, I jumped at the chance!  I believe they were offering 15% off everything on their site, but I may be wrong.  I ordered two quads, two singles, and three chromalust loose eye shadows.  I'll be doing a review on the loose chromalust shadows separately.

About Sugarpill Cosmetics and it's Owner:
If you are familiar with Sugarpill Cosmetics, then you know about all the rave reviews that they have been getting.  If you are not, well where have you been??!!!
Sugarpill Cosmetics is owned by a cute lil' lady named Amy Doan who made the cosmetics line after realizing the demand for bright, and I mean BRIGHT eye shadows.  She currently has a shop on ETSY.  There you will find handmade (by Amy) and vintage items.  It's a really cute shop.  And if you think she has her plate full, well she's not done.  She also has an EBAY shop too!  In it she sells theatrical makeup such as Kryolan, dramatic false lashes, and  even some Sugarpill too.  I was really able to get a grasp of her style and her unique vision once I visited all these shops.  You will too.  I don't know her personally, but you can tell that she's driven!

Anyways, on to the review...

WEBSITE:  The website it beautiful.  It's easy to navigate through, and the pictures are true to color.  What you see is what you get.  Of course, they are far more beautiful in person.  The layout is organized and it makes you want to visit it over and over again!  Well that's how I felt.  I was a Sugarpill stalker, especially before I made my first purchase :)

CUSTOMER SERVICE:  Before I received my goodies, I sent a message to the email listed on the website to inquire about my package.  I figured I would receive a pretty generic email from a representative of some kind.  Instead I received an email from Amy herself!  She is very kind and helpful.  If you send an email, you will get a response in a timely manner.  Remember that this is a small Indie makeup brand, so she is probably spitting out these orders herself.  Can you beleive it?

PACKAGING:  The package arrived in a white cardboard box with the Sugarpill Logo on the front.  Inside the box were my goodies wrapped in pink tissue paper.  Among my goodies, I also received a business card, a free Sugarpill sticker, a postcard style insert, and a free sample of Junebug Chromalust Eyeshadow.

The packaging of the quads as well as the individual chromalust and pressed eye shadows are beautiful.  I will not and will never throw these boxes away.  They are just too beautiful and too detailed.  As a matter of fact, I have one up in my vanity and I see it every day.  You can tell that the packaging was thought out.

Initially, I know that there were complaints about the quads not having the eyeshadow names on them.  She has since then fixed that problem.  Each quad has a sticker in the back with all the necessary information. The palette itself is a bit heavy.  It's made of cardboard with a mirror included inside.  I really prefer cardboard for it's appearance and feel.  Sometimes plastic palettes can appear cheap.  I don't think the cardboard will wear too much, unless it's in your makeup bag most of the time banging up on other things.

PRICE:  But, you also have to remember that all these details cost money.  You would think that cosmetics that have this much detail, and are of this quality, would cost more than they actually do.  They don't. They are very reasonably priced for the amount of product you are receiving.
I know other bloggers have compared Sugarpill to MAC.  So, I will do the same since most people are aware of the prices and sizes of MAC eye shadows.  In the United States a typical MAC shadow will cost $14.50 for 1.5grams/.05oz of product.  That's roughly $9.66 per gram of eyeshadow.  Sugarpill Cosmetics sells their single eye shadows for $12.00 for 4 grams/ .14 oz of product.  That's roughly $3.00 per gram.  That's a large difference in price for an eyeshadow that is of the same or if not better quality than MAC.  If you consider the quads on Sugarpill website.  You are getting four eye shadows, 16 grams of eyeshadow, for $2 and change a gram!!

Color Payoff

As you can see, the payoff is amazing.  All the colors were swatched on my hand with no primer whatsoever.  I do have to be honest, though. When I initially rubbed my finger on the shadows, they were a bit gritty.  But, once I rubbed the first layer of shadow off, I could then feel the creamy texture that I had been reading about.  I have since used the colors and I did not feel any more of the gritty texture I initially felt.
Love is by far the most dramatic of these four.  It also has the most color payoff of all their pressed eye shadows.  It's so bright and intense!  Whoa!

I also picked up this quad.  Again, the colors are bright and dramatic.  Dollipop has to be my favorite of this bunch.

COMPARISONS:

When compared to MAC, you can see that the size is significantly bigger.  You can also see that when compared to MACs Carbon, Sugarpill's bulletproof is far more opaque and black.  I heavily swatched both eye shadows on my hand without primer.  If you want a serious black, Bulletproof is the way to go.

I wasn't able to depot the sugarpill eye shadows, even though I heard that it's quite easy from the quad palette.  But at first glance, I think that sugarpill eye shadows may be a tad bit larger that Makeup For Ever eyshadows.

Also, there is a slight difference in the color between MUFE's purple (I believe it's 92) and Poison Plum from Sugarpill.  They are both beautiful colors, yet still different.  Poison Plum is a deeper shade of purple.  #92 seems to be a little cooler compared to Poison Plum.

THOUGHTS:
Obviously the brand is amazing.  But, if you are shy about wearing bright and intense colors, this is not the brand for you.  They cater to a specific type of person who wants to make a statement.  I personally don't wear these type of colors often, but I knew that their quality would be amazing and I could NOT hold back.  I have used these shadows as colorful liners that I implement in my everyday makeup regimen.
I am excited to see what Sugarpill will have to offer next.  I think we have all been blown away so far, so hopefully more amazing things are yet to come.

Thanks for reading :)

Review: Softlips SPF Lip Balm

While out of town for the holidays, I realized that I left my trusty EOS lipbalm at home.  I needed to stop by my local CVS for some things, so I decided to pick up a duo pack of Soft lips lip balm(photo from drugstore.com).  It's been around for ages, and I didn't think I could go wrong with this purchase.  I did.....

This is horrible stuff!  Maybe because I'm so spoiled now with my lip balms, but this is not moisturizing at all.  I found myself reapplying and reapplying, and I never felt like it actually sunk into my lips.  The scent and flavor are great, OK I give them that.  But otherwise, this was a waste of my four dollars.

What kind of lip balm do you use?

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
XOXO
